KALTARA TANJUNG SELOR – The intense heat of the flames, thick smoke and challenging terrain have not stopped personnel from the Directorate of Samapta of the North Kalimantan Regional Police (Ditsamapta Polda Kaltara) from carrying out their mission.
Entering the second week of forest and land fire (Karhutla) response operations in Bulungan Regency, personnel have continued battling the fires in the field, working tirelessly regardless of the time and conditions.
Every day, Ditsamapta personnel, together with the North Kalimantan Police Mobile Brigade Unit (Satbrimobda) and other relevant agencies, move from one hotspot to another.
Reignited fires, difficult terrain and the extensive areas affected by the fires have become major challenges as officers work to prevent the flames from spreading further. On Saturday, August 15, 2026, firefighting operations were once again carried out at two different locations.
At Selimau 3 Road, Tanjung Selor District, a hotspot was detected in an area that had previously undergone firefighting operations. Personnel were immediately deployed to the location to conduct firefighting, cooling, sweeping and monitoring.
The difficult terrain prevented firefighting vehicles from reaching the hotspot.
As a result, personnel had to walk approximately two kilometers, carrying firefighting equipment manually to reach the location. Sweat, intense heat, thick smoke and difficult terrain became part of the struggle faced by the officers on the ground.
The operation did not stop there.
Firefighting efforts were also carried out around Komjen Dr. H.M. Jasin Road, where a land fire covering approximately 1.5 hectares became the target of another rapid response operation.
A total of 40 Ditsamapta personnel and 10 Satbrimobda personnel were deployed.
Firefighting vehicles, AWC water cannons, pumps, hoses, nozzles and other supporting equipment were fully utilized to control the flames and carry out cooling operations.
But the struggle is not simply about putting out the fire.
Behind every step taken by the personnel is an effort to protect the community.
Behind every drop of sweat is a commitment to protecting the environment. And behind every battle against the intense heat of the flames is a spirit of service that must never be extinguished.
For an entire week, the personnel have remained on the front line.
Whenever new hotspots emerge, they move again.the terrain becomes more difficult, they keep moving forward.And when heat and smoke drain their energy, they continue to stand on the front line.
Polda Kaltara, together with other relevant agencies, remains at the forefront to ensure that every potential Karhutla threat can be quickly brought under control and prevented from spreading to residential areas or threatening the community and environment.
Polda Kaltara also continues to reaffirm its commitment to protecting public security and safety, as well as preserving the environment in North Kalimantan. Because for the Indonesian National Police, this is not merely a duty. It is a commitment to serve.
